Centralized composting systems

Transform Composting System is cost effective method of composting with no risk of water or air pollution and can be located close to an organic source. This continuous process is controlled and ensures a high quality cured finished compost for marketing.

These systems are of channel design with a selection of building enclosures, positive or negative forced air system, biofilter and a unique compost turner designed to ride the channel walls mixing materials as it move along the channel. Based on a needs assessment and estimated volume of daily or weekly input, we can provide an accurate cost to develop and put in place a faculty for a client ranging from $200,000 for a small system to around $900,000 plus for a large system.

We provide additional services such as micro custom composting systems, finished compost marketing, collection system development, research and development and vermicomposting for curing.

A&A with Amaranth Cooperative Enterprises Ltd. designed, developed and tested a new composting diversion model that combines domestic organic and IC&I sector organic with livestock manure. Our technology is turned open windrows or enclosed channel systems turned on a schedule determined by temperatures; composition of organic and other factors. Infrastructure and development costs vary depending on the size of a farm operation and inclusion of off farm organic. Our Community Composting Model funded by Agriculture Agri-Foods Canada's Rural Secretariat Rural Partnership Initiative was recognized at the National Rural Conference in Magog, Quebec. Sixteen projects from across Canada were exhibited by the Rural Secretariat during the conference.

A & A is a group of individuals and firms who provide specialized services in waste resource management and sustainable development. Core staff and associates are skilled and professionally trained individuals.

Composting site location, government licensing, operations design, operations manual development and operator training.

We provide special training such as operator training for windrow and enclosed operations for yard and leaf waste; on farm composting; community related composting; and IC&I organic materials. Based on a need assessment, we design a program to fit your needs. In Nova Scotia, Ontario and Portugal, we have developed or had a significant participation in 12 commercial, municipal, and on farm composting operations. Currently we are involved in developing several new or expansion of facilities.

Workshops and Awareness Programs for Residential Composting

The workshops, outreach and media programs are to assure successful BYC programs.

Our workshops provide composting training directly to residents. Over 220 composting workshops for residents have been delivered using our educational workshop format.

Our community awareness strategy is provided through educational materials for schools, media information and personal contact.

Master Composter training programs

Our Master Composter program trains individuals from communities, businesses, organizations and governmental agencies as "Master Composters" to deliver composting education, awareness, skills and resources to residential, industrial, commercial, institutional and agricultural sectors.

The course is also for those who require skills to develop and operate centralized composting facility. The course includes education on centralized composting with emphasis on both open Windrow and enclosed technologies.



These dual objectives provide a student with multiple skills. The program is flexible and can be adapted to individual needs. Graduating students become educators and or operators and ambassadors by establishing composting demonstration sites and or facilities, doing educational workshops, participating in public events, and providing composting awareness in your community. The course is 40 hours of classroom-related instruction; a field project; delivery of workshops or other related projects and a final exam. The program provides affective and sustained organic diversion.

Our original program format received an award from Cornell University's Waste Management Institute for innovation and success in waste reduction in 1993. As trainers, we have educated over 165 Master Composters in, Canada, Portugal and the US. Our program is delivered by experienced Master Composters and related staff with over forty combined years of experience in composting and related fields.
